From Dated to Dreamy! DIY Tile Makeover with Andalusian Marble Rocks – Part 2

Welcome back to Renacer McGlynn! If you’ve been following our farmhouse renovation, you’ll know that we started transforming our old tiles using natural marble rocks collected from the rambla at the bottom of our land. This week, we’re finishing the project—collecting more stones, securing them in place, and finally applying the grout to complete the transformation!

Heading to the Rambla for More Stones

Our land is rich with natural Andalusian marble, shaped by time and weather, making each piece completely unique. We took another trip down to the rambla to carefully select the right shapes and sizes to fill the remaining gaps. The variety of colours and patterns in these stones means that no two sections look the same—giving our kitchen an organic, rustic charm.

Placing the Final Stones

Once back at the farmhouse, we arranged and secured the last few stones using the same budget-friendly construction adhesive as before. It’s been holding up incredibly well, proving that sometimes the simplest solutions are the best!

The Final Touch – Grouting the Stones

With all the stones in place, it was time to apply the grout, which makes a huge difference in the final look. Not only does it secure everything together, but it also highlights the natural beauty and texture of the stones, making them pop against the backdrop. The transformation is stunning, and we couldn’t be happier with how it’s turned out!

A Sustainable, Budget-Friendly DIY Transformation

What we love most about this project is that it was practically free—apart from the adhesive and grout, everything was sourced from our own land! It’s a great reminder that with a little creativity and effort, you can turn natural, sustainable materials into something truly special.
